Founder of Artisan Hardware
As the grandson of a carpenter and the son of a florist, Daniel Wright developed a love for building and aesthetics at a young age. At 13 years old, Wright, with his brothers, built from scratch a new family home. Two years later they built a second. This pattern of building, living in, and selling homes was not only an important source of income for the Wright family, but it laid the foundation for Daniel’s knowledge and interest in quality wood and metal work.
In 1997, Daniel and his brother Chad leveraged their expertise to create Wright’s Shed Company. The company he founded as a 16-year old experienced steady, sustained success. Creating a second business was not a goal or even on his radar, but when a promising opportunity presented itself Wright seized the moment.
The genesis of Artisan Hardware began at the Winter 2011 Salt Lake Home Show. When Wright arrived to set up his booth for the Wright Shed Company, he found that his booth’s location had been moved. Wright’s display no longer worked with the new location. Improvising, Wright rebuilt his display through the night, including building a sliding barn door to accommodate the booth’s new location.
This innovation yielded impressive and unforeseen results. Home Show attendees showed greater interest in the premier, sliding barn door than his standard offerings. Wright knew his expected one-time solution could be a long-term opportunity: to create and sell high-quality barn doors and hardware.
A few months later Wright formed Artisan Hardware in late 2012. At first Artisan Hardware began selling their products on eBay and Etsy. Within six months of founding, Artisan Hardware successfully shifted and earned most of their revenue from the Artisan Hardware website.
As CEO, Daniel has successfully led Artisan Hardware to build upon it’s strong start. They have experienced a compound annual growth rate of 142% year over year. He has also facilitated an arrangement for Artisan Hardware to be the exclusive barn door provider for Pottery Barn. They have also been featured on many HGTV programs, along with Better Homes & Gardens and Handyman magazines.

We truly loved the hardware we received from Artisan Hardware. Great quality, excellent customer service, easy to install. It was a very striking addition to our master bedroom into our very small bath. We are so happy we chose Artisan Hardware. Their prices were very reasonable and did not diminish the quality
